School Overview

Aviomar has evolved from a small Rome-based flying club into a full-scale aviation training academy over four decades. The school offers the complete pilot training spectrum: ab-initio ATPL, modular courses, type ratings (B737, A320, A340, Citation), and airline assessment preparation. As a GlobeAir partner and CAAT Thailand-approved school, Aviomar serves both European and international students. The school's longevity and Ryanair partnership distinguish it within Italy's competitive flight training market.

Training Programs

Aviomar offers both integrated and modular pathways to the EASA ATPL. The integrated programme takes students from zero to frozen ATPL in a structured full-time course. The modular route allows pilots with existing licenses to complete individual ratings (IR, CPL, ME) at their own pace. Both pathways are conducted from the Rome Urbe base, with simulator phases at the Monterotondo centre or the new Parma campus.

Type rating courses are available for the Boeing 737, Airbus A320, Airbus A340, and Cessna Citation family. With B737 and A320 full flight simulators on site, pilots can complete their type rating without travelling to an external facility — a significant advantage for Italian and southern European pilots.

Ryanair Future Flyer Partnership

Aviomar is Italy's sole Ryanair Future Flyer Academy partner. This cadet programme provides a structured pathway from zero experience to a Ryanair first officer position. Students complete their ATPL training with Aviomar, followed by a Ryanair-specific B737 type rating and base training. Graduates who meet Ryanair's standards receive a conditional employment offer.

Ryanair Pathway

The Ryanair Future Flyer programme at Aviomar is one of the most direct routes to an airline career in Italy. Ryanair operates from 29 Italian airports, making it Italy's largest airline by passenger numbers. A guaranteed interview upon graduation removes the uncertainty that many self-sponsored students face.

Fleet & Simulators

Aviomar operates 23 training aircraft including Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 172RG (retractable gear), Diamond DA42 (multi-engine), and Piper PA34 Seneca. The simulator fleet is one of Italy's most comprehensive: an Alsim ALX FNPT II for instrument training, a Boeing 737-800 fixed-base simulator, plus full flight simulators for the A320, Citation Mustang, and Citation III.

The new Parma campus adds a Diamond DA42 FSTD and a Boeing 737-8200 MAX FSTD to the fleet, further strengthening Aviomar's position as a type rating provider. The Parma facility is solar-powered, reflecting the school's investment in sustainable training infrastructure.

Locations

Rome Urbe Airport (LIRU) — Main Base

Rome Urbe is a general aviation airport within Rome's city limits, offering convenient access for students living in the capital. The airport's GA-focused environment means less waiting for commercial traffic clearances. Italian weather provides good VFR conditions for much of the year, though summer thermal activity can be challenging for early students.

Parma Campus (LIMP) — New Facility

Aviomar's new 2,000 m² campus at Parma Airport opened in 2025. The facility houses the DA42 and B737 MAX flight simulation training devices and is powered by solar energy. Parma offers a quieter training environment compared to Rome, with lower living costs and an operational airport serving as a practical training backdrop.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through the Aviomar website or directly at the Rome Urbe campus. The school accepts applications year-round, with multiple intake dates. For the Ryanair Future Flyer programme, applications follow Ryanair's cadet selection timeline — monitor both Aviomar and Ryanair websites for intake announcements. Financing through BNL Futuriamo is available for eligible Italian and EU students.
