After passing ATPL theory exams (Phase I), you're formally hired as an airBaltic employee. You then rotate: 2 weeks of flight training at Liepāja, 2 weeks of paid work at airBaltic HQ in Riga. The salary covers rent and food. No loan repayments are deducted.

Loan Repayment
No repayments during the 24-month study period. Repayments begin only after you're hired, complete the Type Rating, pass Line Check, and start duties as First Officer. Deductions come directly from salary over 5-7 years.

Simulator Assessment Tip

New for 2026: pilots can live anywhere in Europe and commute to Riga for 13-day work blocks, then get 10 days off. This eliminates the requirement to permanently relocate to Latvia — a huge barrier for Southern/Western European candidates.
